“Getting it going” – Successful Kick-Off Meeting in Münster/Germany

“What a great Kick-Off for the partnership!” was the shared experience of the attendees of the first meeting that took place in Münster/Germany 2nd to 4th October 13. The 19 DSC01490members of seven participating organization from Belgium, Germany, Spain, Sweden, and Turkey worked on the start of the development process that is in the center of the partnership. What is the target group? Which problems do they have? For whom is it necessary? That where the first question to be discussed before the main target – drafting a mindmap of the competences needed by youth workers facing the growing significance of smartphones and social media – was brought into focus. Five intercultural DSC02829multidisciplinary workgroups were build out of the members to brainstorm on the competences. The results were exchanged and a mindmap was build. This mindmap shows the relevant topics of youth work in the age of smartphones and social media. Within the next weeks the map will be reviewed by organisations that serve as a sounding boards for the partnership before the next step – describing the competences in detail as bodies of knowledge, skills, and attitude – will be done by the workgroups.

In addition to working on the development the attendees enjoyed the interesting flair of DSC03552Westphalia taking a stroll around Münster, which is famous for its rich history and for being Germany’s most bicycle-friendly city.

The next meeting of the partnership will take place in February visiting the Belgium partners in Brussels. Meanwhile the workgroups will work further on the description of the competences so that in Stockholm the next step – products that serve as evidence for the competences – can be done.
